Teddies for Loving Care

We started 2020 off well by renewing contact with the John Radcliffe Hospital and then other hospitals and units. We were all set in April to start supplying them with Teddy Bears when the pandemic struck meaning we could not get any bears into hospitals until September.

We now supply bears to the following NHS departments in Oxfordshire:

John Radcliffe Hospital Children’s A&E
Unit Horton Hospital A&E Unit
Horton Hospital Children’s Ward
Minor Injury Units at Abingdon, Bicester, Henley and Witney
X-ray Units at Abingdon, Bicester, Chipping Norton and Witney
Paediatric Unit at Chipping Norton Hospital.

A total of over 2000 bears have been given to the above NHS departments, including 650 in gift bags to disabled children, from September 2020 to end December 2020.

Funding for this project is by the Provincial Charity. Due to the 1000s of bears the Freemasons of England & Wales give freely to hospitals, we are able to purchase them at a reasonable price. Still every bear given to a child in Oxfordshire costs us £2, which includes them being packed in special bags to reduce the risk of infection. If any Brother or Lodge would like to support this campaign which has been going for 20 years, please contact tlc@oxfordshirefreemasons.org snf a £5 donation can be given by dialling 70500 on your mobile phone.
